Terms of Service

Last updated: April 04, 2026

By using Host Shield you agree to these terms. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Agreement

By using Host Shield (“we”, “our”, “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Host Shield provides short-term rental (STR) compliance information: jurisdiction lookup, compliance checklists, permit guidance, and optional monitoring. We do not provide legal or tax advice. Our reports summarize public requirements and link to official sources; you are responsible for complying with local laws.

3. Account and Access

You may use the Service with or without an account. Sign-in is via magic link (email). You are responsible for keeping your email secure and for all activity under your account. Reports may be accessed via a secret link; anyone with the link can view that report.

4. Payments and Refunds

Fees for reports and optional Active Monitoring are charged at the rates shown at checkout. Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not offer refunds; once sold is sold. Subscription (Active Monitoring) may be cancelled in accordance with the terms shown at signup.

5. Your Content and Uploads

You may upload permits or other documents to your compliance vault. You grant us a limited license to store and display that content only to serve the Service (e.g., show your uploads on your report). You represent that you have the right to upload such content. We do not sell your content.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not use the Service for illegal purposes, to infringe others’ rights, or to abuse our systems (e.g., scraping, bypassing access controls). We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms.

7. Disclaimer

The Service and reports are provided “as is.” We do not warrant accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Compliance requirements change; we strive to keep data current but do not guarantee it. You rely on our information at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Host Shield and its affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact us at the email or address provided in our Trust Center or on gethostshield.com.
